"Halfway Through January: Are Your Resolutions Holding Up? Let’s Talk Real Progress & Self-Compassion!"
Resolutions, Accountability, Self Care & Compassion
2 weeks into January. If you made any resolutions or goals, how are they going? I’ve been trying to remind myself that even the little tiny changes count. In juggling health, caregiving and writing I feel I keep dropping balls. I have taken a few things off my plate, Set some boundaries on some others. The article by The Thriving Spoonie this morning on Spoonies needing routines really hit home with me. I think thats my first big step I need to take is overhauling my routines/habits to be more realistic for the limits on my time and energy levels.
I just reread my post “2024 is winding down”, In it I talked about streamlining routines to avoid dropping balls. I think thats the universe telling me to stop talking about it and start doing it. Change is hard. Especially when you’ve done the same thing for decades. I am determined to end 2025 in a much better space mentally, physically, financially than in my past. I hope you stay around to hold me accounable. I’m hoping that in sharing my journey and realities that I can help and encourage you too.
Today is ‘World Logic Day” Seeing that pop up on my calendar suddenly made me think of the DBT training I took a long time ago. I have been catching myself putting myself down a lot lately. I find it helps when I take the thoughts my ‘emotional mind’ trigger and reframe them using my ‘wise mind’ … I am still a work in progress in breaking my old negative core beliefs about myself. The good news is looking back I have made some progress. This is not said to pat myself on the back but to let anyone know that once upon a time there was a woman who believed nothing would get better and there was no hope. She was me, but she is not the me that I am now. Don’t give up. Don’t give in to those negative thoughts and emotions. You ARE worthy and you DO deserve better. Here is a free download I found on the web if you want to do a worksheet and try it out for some of your own negative cognitions.
